I am a motivational leader with strong sense of ownership, always building trust with others. After developing software for 10 years in a zero-to-one startup, I served as a Product and Engineering Leader in Daptiv (acquired by Planview), AWS, and Smartsheet. I care as much about developing people as I do about developing products customers use and love. I still can’t stop coding in my spare time. I am a regular open source contributor and a top 4% overall contributor on Stack Overflow.
I started my career in a startup building SDKs for developers at Data Dynamics (acquired by Grape City). Most recently I lead lead Product & Engineering as CTO of Vouched who verifies people’s identity using AI computer vision. Before that I was Sr. Director of Product & Engineering at Smartsheet supporting the teams operating the core platform (Authorization, Administration) and at other times those teams building Automated Workflows, Communications, Navigation, and Integrations. Over six years, I launched capabilities such as Automated Workflows, Conversations, the Home Landing Experience and dozens of integrations. I was also a Technical Product Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Daptiv (acquired by Planview).
Lately I code most with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, React, REST APIs, and various databases. I have operated reliable and secure cloud services for millions of users and I know my way around AWS, GCP and Kubernetes. I perform deep data analysis in Python/Pandas/Jupyter & SQL. I’m also capable in C#/.NET, C/C++ and I love learning something new and I learn fast. I love surrounding myself with the highest-performing frontend, backend and site-reliability engineers.
Product Management is an integral part of making software successful for business. I have managed dozens of product managers and executed the role myself as an individual contributor. I translate the executive team’s vision into requirements that engineers can build. I interview customers and prospects to validate and refine the product. I provide feedback iteratively to engineering to ensure things are built rapidly to meet customer need. Above all, I work right-along side with the engineering team every day.
From defining product strategy, to embedding with engineers to deliver a feature and everything in between, I help teams deliver software that customers use. I do so by clarifying customer needs and making smart tradeoff decisions. I support product launch through close collaboration with marketing, customer success, and sales teams to boost sales and retention.
I support executives by analyzing customer feedback, market opportunity and competitive landscape, and then synthesizing this into a product strategy that helps align the team for execution to get results, to raise a seed round, or write your S-1.
